Park Point . . .

Is a seven mile strip of sand that seperates Lake Superior from Superior Bay and its north end is dominated by residential property owners who enjoy all of the amenities of having a cabin on a lake in Northeastern Minnesota. The south end of the island contains a beautiful public park and beach house, an airport and the pine forest that contains a hiking trail giving people access to the Superior Entry and the harbor. It is an active community that maintains a 42 year old monthly newsletter, the upcoming 43rd annual Park Point Art Fair and the annual Worlds Longest and Largest Garage Sale. On a Friday evening in mid July it hosts Duluth's oldest foot race the "Park Point 5 Miler". It is also the home of the Duluth Rowing Club.

Braun Properties . . .

The Braun family are natives of the island going back five generations. Originally there were 21 families that owned the residential area of the island living mostly in summer cottages as the land was considered a low life area and no one was very interested in owning the property. In fact you could not get financing to purchase or build a home on Park Point until the early 1970's. The family has a deep rooted love of the island and their history is captured in a book titled "Dance, Dance, Dance, Cars and Chance" by Eleanor Braun Burns a second generation Park Pointer. Complimentary copies will be available for guests that would like a copy of the Braun family history. Richard Edward Braun and Nancy Nyquist Braun are your hosts and both are third generation Park Pointers.
